Well, I have been interested in making designs of archaic runes, alchemical transmutation circles, and other cool ancient stuff, so like any other person out there that wants their dream realized, I innovated this simple yet effective (it's not 100% though)method of making these things without the use of a photoshop.
First of all, I'll have to show you my sample (click here), since it's on my DA page. Anyways, I'll share my discovery (I'm sure I'm not the 1st to think of this but I just wanted to share whatever I have discovered here). For a brief overview and a quick idea, I use MS Publisher, MS Powerpoint, and MS Paint.
MS Publisher is for the shape measurement or ,as what I like to call it, symmetry outlining; After that, transfer the outline that you have made to MS Powerpoint (make sure you save the one in Publisher also).
MS Powerpoint is for the color filling of the outline, lame monotype colors of MS Paint is a no-no to me, so I use the color blend effect that MS Powerpoint uses on things like these. Once you're satisfied, save your work again and transfer the finished colored outline to MS Paint.
MS Paint is the final step towards finishing the whole thing. I use it for intricate detailing. The runes that you see on my design on the link above were made using the lines and dots of MS Paint. After that, you just have to save your work and just fix everything at photo editor.
The flaw that I see in this method is:
1. It consumes too much time.
2. When you do the MS Paint part, you shouldn't stop, because the next time you open that file up, your going to see that it got blurred.
3. Same problem as with #2, the image gets blurred after saving.
Anyways, I know that this is tasky and most of you won't use this since you probably have photoshops there at your comp, but I'm just sharing what I have discovered so please feel free to try it and tell me what you think. Thanks... XD
